Brexit news: Michael Gove tells Barnier EU must budge or face Brexit no deal | Politics | News

Michael Gove explained the European Union did not want to “intensify” talks to reach an agreement by December 31 as Boris Johnson has called on Brits to prepare for no deal. Mr Gove noted that is it becoming increasingly less likely the UK will get a deal with the EU by the end of this year. Sky News presenter Sophy Ridge questioned whether Michel Barnier will be coming to the UK next week to continue Brexit trade negotiations.

Speaking to Sky News, Mr Gove said: “The ball is in his court.

“We made clear that we need a change in approach from the European Union.

“I know that he’ll be calling David Frost over the next few days.

“Let’s see if the EU appreciate the importance of reaching a deal and the importance of moving ground.”
